Our ministries help support the overall mission of our church through outreach and service. You and your family can grow and draw closer to God through inspiring ministry opportunities and learning to serve others.
At First Mount Dora Kids, our vision is to partner with you and your family so that your children become Christ-followers and learn to walk daily, for life, with Him.
We believe that you are the primary spiritual leader for your family. We strive to equip you to build your family on the solid foundation of scripture and partner with you to teach your children about Jesus.
Each story has a beginning . . . and each beginning has a storyteller.
The story for Piecemaker Quilters began in 1997 when the founder, Kay Putnam, organized the quilting ministry at the First Baptist Church of Mount Dora. Kay’s gifts and talents for making quilts, coupled with her dedication to sharing God’s love to people who needed quilts, led to the growing number of quilters. Who continues the quilting ministry today.
Currently, Piecemakers Quilters, under the leadership of Jan Allen and Peggy Smith, has grown to a quilting ministry, which includes quilters from sister churches in Lake County. Through quilting, we have built lasting friendships. Hundreds of beautifully crafted quilts have been sent to local, state, and international organizations, including to people in Ukraine, Haiti, Cuba, Venezuela, Honduras, Brazil, Native Americans in North Dakota and Arizona, Lake County Linus Project, and Mount Dora Habitat for Humanity.
All quilters are welcome to join the Piecemakers Quilters group. If you are interested in making a difference in people’s lives, please join us in fellowship in this exciting mission.
The Women’s ministry is a vibrant and dynamic ministry of First Mount Dora, the ministry is led by the senior pastor’s wife, Sheri Jamieson. Sheri has raised up a team of women’s leaders to lead retreats, Bible Studies and worship events.
The events encompass worship, bible study, fun and fellowship. It includes women of all ages—from 16 to 106! In any given year there are four Women’s events with testimonies, guest speakers, and always food and prizes! There have been as many as 12 different women’s bible studies in a year.
Worship is our response, both personal and corporate, to God for who He is, and what He has done; expressed in and by the things we say and the way we live.—Louie Giglio
The Worship Ministry at First Mount Dora exists to deepen the church’s understanding and practice of both corporate and personal worship. The Worship Team exists to strengthen and develop our God-given gifts in leading others in worship through music and media.
